Chinese New Year Performance.

The morning started out quite stressful as 7:57am I recieved a text message on my cell that one of my stage crew is messaging me to let me know he won't be able to do the show as he has a very bad headache and sore throat. The only thing in my mind is that the show must go on so I contacted a friend of mine for help and luckly she was available after work to help me out. I am glad I was lucky enough to get help last minute, thanks to facebook where I posted my request.

Started packing up the Van with all my equipment and it started to rain hard, felt like there was more water coming down from the sky then my shower at home. By the time I got to downtown there was a bit of traffic jam on a Saturday afternoon, I guess it's from the Olympic Anniversary Celebrations. I finally got to the venue and unloaded my van but oh dear, we had to take all our equipment down the stairs, man what a workout. We got all the illusions all ready to go by 5pm and had my sound check all done by 6pm. We had 3 hours of break time before we go onstage for the show. We took a nice walk outside and headed over to Cactus Club for dinner. We had a nice dinner at the heated outdoor patio, I had the heat lamp right over my neck, I thought I had a sunburn after the meal.

The show started late as the program before us was overrun but it was all good, gave me lots of time to do my hair and make up before going onstage. We got a nice introduction from the MC Andy Lung and here we are Sarah and Oslen ready to present the first Illusion. The stage was quite small only 12' x 8'  for 2 illusions and 2 performers plus we do a dance number together, there were moments I thought one of us will fall off that stage. After the opening dance number and illusion I invited a volunteer to come up and do some magic and he walked away with a bottle of Coke at the end. Followed by the Chinese Linking Rings routine and a card trick with an audience volunteer calling her friend on the cell phone to do a magic trick, the selected happened to be in a deck of card but only one card was flipped with the back facing the audience and that was the selected card. Very quickly we moved into an illusion having a gentlemen coming up to help tie me up with ropes then we both stepped into a cloth curtain, matter of seconds his jacket disappeared from he body to my body and the ropes where still tied. He then untied me and I returned his coat but his wallet was still with me in my hands, the audience loved it and had a great laugh. I then presented My Miracle act making it snow in the restaurant. Then I did my new act that I been working on which is called the Dream Prediction. I had a dream and I wrote my dream down on a piece of paper sealed in an envelope which has a clear window so you can see it at all times which was hunged on a pole. I threw a beach ball out and asked the audience a series of questions. At the end I invited the lady to come up and read the prediction I had which matches exactly what the audience has selected, got great feedbacks on this act. At last we performed our final illusion of the evening, Metamorphosis, the fastest illusion in the world. That concludes our show for the evening. The audience came up after the show to tell me how much they enjoyed the performance, thanks everyone for making this show run so smoothy especially my dancer/assistant Sarah, my last minute replacement crew Mary and Daryl for taking photos and videos for me. Thanks!
